IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT YOU BACK UP YOUR DATA AT LEAST
2 TO 3 TIMES A WEEK.
In order to BACK UP your data, go to the Start button on the bottom of the computer screen. Go to Programs, then find Retail
Advantage
POS Software and
Point of Sale
Software on
the list of programs. You will see the option:
SSM DATA BACK UP, select this option. Select the Back
Up Data button. You must select the drive
that you want to back up the data, then for Sub Directory enter a name for the back up
data file. Then Click the Back Up Now button.
If you are using
3 ½ floppy disks to back up, be sure that you have at least 4 or 5 disks. If you would like to back up to a Zip Disk (you
will only need one), make sure you have a Zip drive in your computer, or purchase an
external Zip drive which will plug into your one of computers USB ports.
Please note that
when using floppy disks you should have several sets of disks. You also will need to delete or erase the contents
of the disks if you are going to reuse them for additional backup sessions. For instance, when you use floppy disks the disks
will generally be full when you finish the backup process.
You can not backup data over existing data, so if you going to use the same
set again you need to erase the contents or use a new set of disks. That is why it is critical you have several sets of
disks you can rotate.
Although the
probability of your data being lost or damaged on your computer is very low, if it does
happen you will realize the importance of timely and accurate backups. PERFORM BACKUPS REGULARLY AND ON MORE THAN
ONE SET OF BACKUP MEDIA.
